Strategies for Virtual Teams

 

Hold an initial face-to-face startup meeting, if possible; give the team creative challenge to address to help team members learn to work together and connect at deeper levels;

Have periodic face-to-face meetings, especially to address complex challenges, resolve conflict and maintain team cohesiveness

Establish clear guidelines, a code of conduct or set of norms and protocols for behavior

Recognize and reward performance

Use visuals and teleconferencing in communications

Use special caution in tone and language because most communications will be non-verbal.
