"When I hire somebody really
senior, the real issue for me
is, Are they going to fall in
love with
Apple? Because if they fall
in love with Apple, everything
else will take care of itself,"
said Steve Jobs.
Each top manager has
responsibilities in functional
areas but cross-functional
systemic innovation must
also be supported. Together the
top
management team must share
the leadership of the company
with the CEO.
They must understand and embrace
corporate vision,
strategic intent, new
product visions, and understand
how their roles and functions
are
strategically aligned and
integrated, and coordinate their
activities to support growth and
opportunities-driven business
development.
Together, they must develop the
company's
growth goals, plans
and entrepreneurial strategies,
develop and strengthen the
corporate values, build an
inspiring culture, attract
and retain
creative and
entrepreneurial people in each
of their functional areas.
To achieve that, you should
build a sense of informality,
creative dissatisfaction,
trust, and a shared
understanding of the future
among the top management team
members. The top team must be a
model for all other teams
and help each other succeed.
